Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic State/Provincial Disability Claims Processor to join our team in Sherbrooke, Quebec. In this rewarding role, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of disability claims from initial intake through to resolution. This involves reviewing applications, gathering necessary documentation, communicating with claimants, medical professionals, and other stakeholders, and making informed decisions based on policy terms and provincial regulations. You will play a crucial role in providing support and clarity to individuals during challenging times, ensuring fair and timely processing of their disability benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and adjudicate disability claims in accordance with company policies and provincial regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with claimants, employers, medical providers, and legal representatives to gather necessary information and provide updates.
  • Analyze medical reports, policy documents, and other relevant information to determine eligibility and claim duration.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive electronic records of all claim activities and decisions.
  • Identify and investigate any discrepancies or complex issues within claims, escalating as necessary.
  • Provide clear and concise explanations of claim decisions to claimants and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including medical advisors and legal departments, to facilitate claims resolution.
  • Adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines and ethical standards.

Required Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English (bilingualism is a strong asset for Quebec).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in using claims processing software and standard office applications.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Empathy, patience, and a professional demeanor when interacting with claimants.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in disability claims processing, insurance, or a related field.
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline (e.g., business administration, healthcare administration, social sciences).
  • Knowledge of provincial disability legislation and regulations.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and conditions related to disability claims.
  • Experience with customer service in a high-volume environment.
