Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Urology Nurse Specialist to join our specialized team in Bradford West Gwillimbury. This role is crucial in providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with various urological conditions. The successful candidate will play a vital role in patient assessment, education, treatment planning, and coordination of care, ensuring optimal outcomes and patient satisfaction. We offer a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) for eligible international candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments for individuals with urological conditions, including history taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic test interpretation.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with urologists and the multidisciplinary team.
- Provide specialized nursing care, including catheter management, wound care, and post-operative support.
- Educate patients and their families on urological conditions, treatment options, medication management, and self-care strategies.
- Coordinate appointments, procedures, and referrals to other healthcare professionals or services.
- Monitor patient progress, identify potential complications, and intervene appropriately.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuous professional development.
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring ethical and culturally sensitive care.
Required Skills
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Ontario (or eligible for registration)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in urology or a related specialty (e.g., surgical, medical-surgical)
- Demonstrated knowledge of urological conditions, treatments, and procedures
- Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and colleagues
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Certification in urology nursing (e.g., CUNP)
- Experience with patient education and counselling
- Fluency in additional languages
