Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Equine Veterinarian / Surgeon to join our dynamic team at Severn Valley Equine Hospital. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced equine practitioner, with sponsorship provided for eligible international candidates. The successful applicant will contribute to both our ambulatory and hospital-based services, performing diagnostics, medical treatments, and a range of surgical procedures. You will be instrumental in delivering high-quality patient care, collaborating with specialists, and educating clients. Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive veterinary care for equine patients in both field and hospital settings.
- Perform advanced diagnostic procedures including radiography, ultrasonography, endoscopy, and MRI.
- Execute a wide range of soft tissue and orthopedic surgical procedures, independently or with supervision.
- Manage emergency cases and participate in an on-call rota.
- Develop and implement treatment plans, ensuring excellent client communication and education.
- Maintain accurate patient records and contribute to case discussions with the wider veterinary team.
- Mentor junior staff and participate in continuous professional development activities.
- Adhere to all professional and ethical standards, including RCVS guidelines.
Required Skills
- Veterinary degree (DVM, VetMB, BVSc or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
- Eligibility for or current full registration with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS).
- Minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience in equine practice, with demonstrable surgical exposure.
- Proven diagnostic imaging interpretation skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building strong client relationships.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Full UK driving license (or equivalent, with willingness to obtain).
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualification in equine surgery (e.g., ECVS, ACVS Diploma, CertAVP (Equine Surgery)).
- Advanced knowledge of lameness diagnostics and performance horse medicine.
- Experience with specialized equine procedures (e.g., laparoscopy, arthroscopy).
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and research.
