Job Description
Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our innovative research team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects focused on biomedical science, disease mechanisms, and translational research, with the goal of ultimately improving patient outcomes. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within a dynamic research environment, leveraging state-of-the-art facilities and resources. Key Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and execute original research experiments independently and collaboratively, ensuring rigorous scientific methodology.
- Collect, process, and analyze complex biological data using a variety of scientific software and statistical tools.
- Prepare and submit manuscripts for publication in high-impact, peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Present research findings at internal seminars, national, and international scientific conferences.
- Contribute to the preparation and submission of grant proposals to secure external research funding.
- Mentor and guide junior researchers, graduate students, and technical staff in laboratory techniques and research principles.
- Maintain meticulous records of all experiments, data, and laboratory procedures.
- Adhere strictly to all laboratory safety protocols, institutional policies, and ethical guidelines for research involving human subjects, animal models, or biosafety materials.
- Actively participate in departmental meetings, journal clubs, and scientific discussions.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. degree in a relevant scientific discipline such as Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- A strong record of scientific accomplishment, demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications as a first author.
- Proven expertise in designing and conducting scientific experiments, including troubleshooting and optimization.
- Proficiency in data analysis software and statistical methods relevant to biomedical research.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex scientific concepts clearly.
- Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a diverse research team.
- Specific technical skills pertinent to the research area, such as cell culture, molecular cloning, PCR, Western blotting, microscopy, flow cytometry, or animal model experience.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior postdoctoral experience or extensive research experience beyond the Ph.D. completion.
- Experience with bioinformatics tools, computational biology, or programming languages (e.g., R, Python) for large dataset analysis.
- Demonstrated success in contributing to grant applications or securing research funding.
- Experience in translational research or a clear understanding of how basic research can be applied to clinical problems.
