Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and meticulous Sushi Counter Waiter to join our prestigious fine dining team. This role is pivotal in ensuring an exceptional guest experience at our sushi counter, from greeting and seating to providing expert menu guidance and seamless service. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for Japanese cuisine, impeccable service standards, and the ability to thrive in an upscale, fast-paced environment. You will be the face of our sushi counter, embodying our commitment to quality and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greet and seat guests at the sushi counter, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
- Present menus, explain daily specials, and offer detailed insights into sushi ingredients and preparation methods.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders, using our POS system, and relaying them efficiently to the sushi chefs.
- Serve food and beverages promptly and professionally, adhering to fine dining service protocols.
- Anticipate guest needs and respond to inquiries with knowledge and grace.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi counter area, ensuring all cutlery, glassware, and condiments are spotless.
- Handle payment transactions accurately and efficiently, processing cash and credit card payments.
- Collaborate effectively with sushi chefs and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service flow.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene standards.
- Assist with opening and closing duties as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a customer service role, preferably within a restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high service standards.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and maintain composure.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- A proactive and positive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a waiter or server in a fine dining or upscale restaurant.
- Familiarity with Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi and sashimi.
- Proficiency in using Point of Sale (POS) systems.
- Ability to communicate in multiple languages is a plus.
