Job Description

Oracle is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Data Privacy Officer to join our team in Livingston, West Lothian, Scotland. This critical role is responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with global data protection regulations, including GDPR and CCPA, across our operations. You will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and enforcing privacy policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, and providing expert advice to various departments. Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for data privacy inquiries and regulatory bodies (e.g., ICO).
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive data privacy policies, procedures, and guidelines in alignment with GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant privacy laws.
  • Conduct data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) and privacy risk assessments for new projects, systems, and processes.
  • Monitor compliance with data privacy laws and internal policies through regular audits and reviews.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to business units on data privacy best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Oversee the handling of data subject requests (DSARs) and data breaches, ensuring timely and compliant responses.
  • Organize and deliver privacy awareness training to employees across the organization.
  • Collaborate with legal, IT, security, and other departments to embed privacy-by-design principles.
  • Stay abreast of evolving data privacy laws, regulations, and industry best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in a data privacy, compliance, or legal role, specifically focused on GDPR and CCPA.
  • In-depth knowledge of global data protection laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrable experience conducting DPIAs and privacy risk assessments.
  • Strong understanding of information security principles and their intersection with data privacy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex privacy concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, or other relevant privacy certifications.
  • Experience with large-scale enterprise environments and cloud services.
  • Familiarity with UK data protection laws specific to Scotland.
  • Legal background or degree in a related field.
  • Experience with privacy management software and tools.
