Job Description
We are seeking a meticulous and user-focused Usability Tester to join our product development team in Peterborough. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring our digital products are intuitive, efficient, and enjoyable for all users. You will be responsible for conducting usability tests, collecting user feedback, identifying pain points, and collaborating with design and development teams to implement improvements. Your work will directly influence the user experience of critical financial and data solutions, making a tangible difference for our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute comprehensive usability testing plans and scenarios for web and mobile applications.
- Recruit and manage participants for usability studies, ensuring diverse user representation.
- Facilitate user testing sessions, observing user behavior and recording interactions.
- Collect, analyze, and synthesize qualitative and quantitative user data to identify usability issues and user pain points.
- Generate detailed reports and presentations outlining test findings, actionable insights, and recommendations for improvement.
- Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers, product managers, and software engineers to ensure usability considerations are integrated throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our usability testing methodologies and best practices.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends in UX, usability, and user research.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Usability Tester, UX Researcher, or similar role.
- Strong understanding of usability principles, user-centered design, and various testing methodologies (e.g., guerrilla testing, remote testing, moderated/unmoderated testing).
- Proficiency in analyzing qualitative and quantitative data to derive actionable insights.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly and concisely.
- High attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Cognitive Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience with usability testing tools (e.g., UserTesting, Optimal Workshop, Lookback, Maze).
- Familiarity with accessibility guidelines (WCAG) and inclusive design principles.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment.
- Portfolio demonstrating past usability testing projects and their impact.
