Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Ship Master / Captain to command our commercial vessels. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, its crew, cargo, and passengers (if applicable), in strict adherence to international maritime regulations and company policies. This is a critical leadership role requiring extensive maritime experience, exceptional navigation skills, and the ability to manage complex operations in diverse marine environments. Key Responsibilities
- Assume ultimate command and responsibility for the vessel, its crew, cargo, and the safety of all personnel onboard.
- Ensure strict compliance with all international and national maritime laws, regulations, and company policies, including SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, and ISM Code.
- Lead, manage, and train the crew, fostering a culture of safety, discipline, and teamwork.
- Plan and execute safe and efficient voyages, including navigation, watchkeeping, and maneuvering in various conditions.
- Oversee cargo operations, ensuring proper loading, stowage, securing, and discharge procedures.
- Manage vessel maintenance and repair schedules in coordination with the engineering department.
- Implement emergency response procedures and conduct regular drills.
- Maintain accurate vessel records, logs, and reports.
- Communicate effectively with shore-side management, port authorities, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Represent the company with professionalism and integrity.
Required Skills
- Valid Master Mariner Unlimited Certificate of Competency (STCW II/2).
- Extensive experience as Master or Chief Officer on commercial vessels.
- Sound knowledge of international and national maritime regulations.
- Proven leadership, management, and communication skills.
- Excellent navigation, seamanship, and ship handling abilities.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving capabilities under pressure.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Ability to pass a comprehensive medical examination and drug screening.
- Eligibility for visa sponsorship in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specific vessel types relevant to our fleet (e.g., container ships, bulk carriers, tankers).
- Advanced training in Ship Resource Management (SRM) or Bridge Resource Management (BRM).
- GMDSS General Operator's Certificate (GOC).
- Familiarity with modern navigation and communication systems.
