Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Freight Forwarding Manager to lead our operations in Lincoln, Lincolnshire. This critical role involves overseeing the end-to-end freight forwarding process, ensuring operational excellence, client satisfaction, and compliance with all relevant regulations. The successful candidate will manage a dedicated team, optimize processes, and drive business growth within the region. We understand the importance of global talent and are pleased to confirm that Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) will be provided for eligible candidates who require a UK work visa.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily freight forwarding operations for air, ocean, and road cargo.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of freight forwarding professionals, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Ensure compliance with all international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and company policies.
- Oversee client relationships, providing exceptional service and resolving complex issues efficiently.
- Monitor performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategic solutions.
- Manage budget and P&L for the Lincoln branch, ensuring financial targets are met.
- Collaborate with sales and other departments to develop new business opportunities and grow market share.
- Implement and maintain best practices for operational efficiency and cost control.
- Prepare and present reports on operational performance, market trends, and team achievements to senior management.
- Stay informed of industry changes and technological advancements to ensure competitive service offerings.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in freight forwarding operations, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- In-depth knowledge of international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and incoterms.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Proficiency in freight forwarding software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certifications in logistics or freight management.
- Experience with specific customs declaration systems (e.g., CHIEF, CDS).
