Job Description

Tetra Tech is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Entry Level Environmental Sampling Assistant to join our dynamic team in Vancouver, BC. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about environmental science who are looking to kickstart their career in a supportive and collaborative environment. No prior experience is required, as comprehensive training will be provided. You will be instrumental in collecting critical environmental data in the field, supporting a variety of projects related to soil, water, and air quality assessments. This role involves significant outdoor work in various weather conditions and requires a strong commitment to safety and data accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct environmental sampling (soil, water, air, sediment) according to established protocols.
  • Operate and maintain field equipment, including calibration and basic troubleshooting.
  • Record field data accurately and legibly, maintaining detailed field notes and chain-of-custody forms.
  • Prepare samples for laboratory analysis and ensure proper packaging and shipping.
  • Adhere strictly to health and safety procedures and site-specific safety plans.
  • Assist senior staff with various field tasks as needed.
  • Maintain organized equipment and supply inventories.
  • Travel to various project sites within the Greater Vancouver area and potentially broader BC.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in outdoor environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in environmental science, geology, biology, or a related field (even if incomplete).
  • First Aid certification.
  • Familiarity with GPS devices or field mapping tools.
  • Previous experience working outdoors or in a field-based role (even non-environmental).
