Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Environmental Engineer to join our dynamic team in Toledo, OH. This role is crucial for ensuring our operations comply with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations while also driving continuous improvement in our environmental performance. The successful candidate will be involved in various projects, from waste management and air quality control to water treatment and sustainability initiatives. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor environmental programs and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and company standards.
- Conduct environmental impact assessments and risk analyses for new projects and existing operations.
- Manage air quality permitting, reporting, and emissions control strategies.
- Oversee waste management programs, including hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams.
- Support water treatment and discharge compliance, including wastewater permitting and monitoring.
- Investigate environmental incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare and submit various environmental reports to regulatory agencies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate environmental considerations into business processes.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on environmental best practices and compliance requirements.
- Stay current with evolving environmental laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in environmental engineering, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and Ohio state environmental regulations (e.g., Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA).
- Experience with environmental permitting, compliance, and reporting.
- Proficiency in data analysis and environmental management systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Experience with ISO 14001 environmental management systems.
- Familiarity with sustainability initiatives and circular economy principles.
- Project management experience.
