Job Description
Join Samaritans as a WFH Crisis Support Assistant and become a vital part of our mission to provide compassionate, text-based emotional support to individuals in distress. This is a profoundly rewarding opportunity to make a tangible difference from the comfort of your own home. You will be fully trained to respond to individuals via text, offering a confidential listening service without judgment or advice. This role is perfect for empathetic individuals who possess excellent communication skills and a desire to help others during their most vulnerable moments. Full comprehensive training will be provided, ensuring you are equipped with all the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in this impactful position, regardless of prior experience in crisis support.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with individuals seeking support via text-based communication platforms, adhering to Samaritans' guidelines.
- Listen actively and empathetically to understand their feelings and situations, providing non-judgmental support.
- Offer confidential emotional support, creating a safe space for callers to express themselves.
- Follow established Samaritans protocols for crisis intervention and emotional support.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and sensitive records of interactions as required by internal policies.
- Actively participate in ongoing training, debriefing, and supervision sessions to enhance skills and support personal well-being.
- Work collaboratively within a remote team environment, contributing to a supportive community.
