Job Description
Are you an early riser looking for a hands-on role where you can learn valuable skills in the agricultural sector? South West Fresh Dairies is seeking a motivated and reliable Dairy Shed Assistant to join our team. No prior experience is necessary as full training will be provided. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to work outdoors, learn about dairy farming, and contribute to a vital industry. You’ll be involved in the daily milking routine and general farm tasks, starting early mornings to ensure our operations run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the daily milking of dairy cows, ensuring proper hygiene and animal welfare protocols are followed.
- Prepare the milking parlour before and clean it after milking sessions.
- Monitor cows for any signs of health issues or injury and report to the farm manager.
- Assist with moving cows to and from the milking shed.
- Perform general farm duties as required, including cleaning yards, equipment maintenance, and feeding.
- Adhere to all farm safety guidelines and animal welfare standards.
- Operate farm equipment under supervision after appropriate training.
