Job Description
We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Telephonic Interpreters to join our remote team. As a Telephonic Interpreter, you will provide crucial interpretation services between English and another language (bilingual essential) for a variety of industries, including healthcare, legal, and government. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from the comfort and convenience of your home. You will facilitate clear and accurate communication, ensuring that all parties understand each other effectively and professionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and complete interpretation of conversations between English and the target language over the phone.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical codes of conduct for interpreters.
- Manage call flow and ensure smooth communication between all parties.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and maintain professional demeanor at all times.
- Accurately convey tone, context, and nuances of conversations.
- Maintain accurate records of interpretation sessions as required.
- Continuously improve language proficiency and interpreting skills.
Required Skills
- Fluency in English and at least one other language (written and spoken) – bilingual essential.
- Exceptional listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with telephonic interpreting equipment and software (headset, reliable internet).
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Strong ethical compass and commitment to confidentiality.
- Familiarity with interpreting ethics and standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification in interpreting (e.g., CMI, CHI).
- Previous experience in telephonic or in-person interpreting.
- Knowledge of medical, legal, or government terminology.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
