Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Health Physics Specialist to join our expert team in Sheffield. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct radiation surveys and assessments in various operational environments.
  • Develop and implement radiation protection programs and procedures.
  • Provide expert advice on radiological safety to project teams and clients.
  • Operate and maintain radiation detection equipment.
  • Perform dose assessments and maintain accurate exposure records.
  • Participate in emergency response planning and drills.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations on radiological data.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international radiation safety regulations.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Proven understanding of radiation principles, measurement techniques, and dosimetry.
  • Familiarity with relevant radiation safety regulations and standards (e.g., IRR17).
  • Proficiency in using radiation detection and monitoring equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and ethical conduct.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Health Physics or a related field.
  • Certification by a recognized health physics board (e.g., RPA, CCT in Radiological Protection).
  • Previous experience working in a nuclear facility, research lab, or environmental consulting firm.
  • Knowledge of radioactive waste management principles.
  • Experience with radiation transport codes or dose modelling software.
  • Familiarity with UK nuclear regulatory framework and practices.
