Job Description
We are seeking a talented and passionate Industrial Designer to join our dynamic product development team in New Orleans. This role is crucial for conceptualizing, designing, and developing innovative medical devices that enhance user experience and clinical efficacy. You will be instrumental in translating complex technical requirements into elegant, user-centric designs, working from initial concept sketches through to detailed prototypes and production. The ideal candidate will possess a strong portfolio demonstrating creative problem-solving, aesthetic sensibility, and technical proficiency. Key Responsibilities
- Generate innovative concepts for new medical devices through sketching, rendering, and 3D modeling.
- Develop detailed design specifications, including materials, finishes, and manufacturing processes.
- Create physical and digital prototypes to test and validate design concepts and usability.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, marketing, clinical, and regulatory teams to ensure design feasibility and market alignment.
- Conduct user research and usability testing to inform design decisions and iterate on products.
- Present design concepts and rationale clearly and persuasively to stakeholders.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, and competitive landscapes to identify new design opportunities.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion 360).
- Expertise in rendering software (e.g., KeyShot, V-Ray).
- Strong freehand sketching and illustration skills.
- Excellent visual and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop innovative design solutions from concept to production.
- A strong portfolio showcasing a range of industrial design projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Industrial Design or a related field.
- Experience in the medical device, healthcare, or highly regulated industries.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Experience with rapid prototyping techniques (e.g., 3D printing, CNC).
- Understanding of human factors and user-centered design principles.
- Experience in conducting user research and ethnographic studies.
