Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Fire Safety / Protection Engineer to join our dynamic team in Belfast. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, contributing to the safety and resilience of buildings and infrastructure. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing fire safety strategies, conducting fire risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with national and international regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement fire safety strategies for various building types and infrastructure projects.
- Conduct fire risk assessments and provide expert advice on fire protection systems.
- Perform calculations and simulations for fire dynamics and smoke control.
- Ensure designs and proposals comply with relevant fire safety legislation, standards, and codes.
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, and clients.
- Prepare detailed reports, specifications, and drawings.
- Participate in client meetings and design reviews.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Fire Safety Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in fire safety design, fire risk assessment, or fire protection engineering.
- Strong understanding of UK fire safety legislation, including Building Regulations Part B.
- Proficiency in fire modelling software (e.g., FDS, Pyrosim) is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Fire Safety Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards it (e.g., through IFE or relevant institution).
- Experience with international fire codes and standards.
- Experience in a consultancy environment.
