Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Sushi Counter Waiter to join our prestigious fine-dining establishment in Surulere. The ideal candidate will provide impeccable service to our guests seated at the sushi counter, ensuring a delightful and personalized dining experience. This role requires a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a passion for hospitality. You will be an integral part of our front-of-house team, working closely with our sushi chefs to create an unforgettable culinary journey for our patrons.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly as they arrive at the sushi counter, seating them comfortably.
- Present menus, explain daily specials, and offer recommendations with a thorough understanding of all sushi and beverage offerings.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders, relaying them efficiently to the sushi chefs and bar staff.
- Serve dishes and beverages promptly and professionally, ensuring presentation meets our high standards.
- Anticipate guest needs and respond to requests courteously and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized sushi counter area, including setup and breakdown procedures.
- Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately, processing payments and providing correct change.
- Collaborate with kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth service flow.
- Address guest concerns or feedback promptly and escalate issues to management when necessary.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene standards.
Required Skills
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, fine-dining environment.
- Basic knowledge of sushi terminology and Japanese cuisine is an advantage.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a waiter or server in a fine-dining restaurant.
- Familiarity with POS (Point of Sale) systems.
- Knowledge of an additional language (e.g., French, Yoruba).
- Food safety certification.
