Job Description
We are seeking a talented and motivated Urban Planner / Town Planner to join our dynamic team in Kettering, Northamptonshire. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, submit, and manage planning applications for a variety of development projects.
- Conduct site appraisals, feasibility studies, and policy reviews.
- Liaise effectively with clients, local planning authorities, statutory consultees, and stakeholders.
- Contribute to master planning exercises and urban regeneration strategies.
- Provide expert planning advice and guidance to clients.
- Undertake research and analysis to support planning proposals.
- Represent WSP at public inquiries, examinations, and stakeholder meetings when required.
- Ensure projects comply with relevant planning legislation, policies, and best practices.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including architects, engineers, and environmental specialists.
Required Skills
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Planning, Town Planning, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in urban or town planning, ideally within a consultancy or local authority setting.
- Strong understanding of the UK planning system, legislation, and policy frameworks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex planning issues clearly.
- Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and other relevant planning tools.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Eligibility for visa sponsorship in the UK.
Preferred Qualifications
- Membership or eligibility for membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
- Experience in specific planning areas such as heritage, environmental planning, or regeneration.
- Project management certification or proven experience in leading planning projects.
- Strong presentation skills and experience engaging with diverse stakeholders.
