Darwin Private Hospital is seeking a dedicated Sterilization Assistant Trainee to join our vital Sterilization Services Department. No prior experience is required – we will provide comprehensive, hands-on training to equip you with all the necessary skills and knowledge. This entry-level role is crucial for maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and safety in our operating theatres and clinics, ensuring all medical instruments are properly cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete an intensive training program to understand and apply sterilization protocols and procedures.
• Inspect, clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment according to established guidelines.
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment, including autoclaves and washer-disinfectors.
• Prepare and package sterile instruments and supplies for various hospital departments.
• Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles and instrument inventory.
• Adhere strictly to infection control policies, safety regulations, and quality assurance standards.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or supply shortages to senior staff.
• Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices in sterilization.
• Contribute to a clean, organized, and efficient sterilization department.
• Work collaboratively with a team to ensure timely and accurate processing of instruments.
