Job Description

As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) at Capgemini in Leicester, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our critical systems and services. You will combine software engineering principles with systems engineering to build and run large-scale, fault-tolerant, and distributed systems. This role involves a blend of proactive engineering, incident response, and continuous improvement, working within a dynamic and collaborative environment to deliver exceptional service availability for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, high-performance, and secure infrastructure.
  • Develop and improve tools for automation of operational tasks, monitoring, and deployments.
  • Monitor system health, performance, and capacity, and proactively address potential issues.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to respond to and resolve critical incidents.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for production incidents and implement preventative measures.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure reliability is built into software from the start.
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to streamline software delivery.
  • Contribute to documentation, best practices, and knowledge sharing across teams.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Go, Ruby, Bash).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Strong understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Knowledge of monitoring and alerting tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios).
  • Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancing).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Azure Administrator Associate).
  • Experience with database systems (SQL and NoSQL).
  • Previous experience in a consulting environment.
  • Familiarity with ITIL framework.
