Job Description
As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) at Capgemini in Leicester, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our critical systems and services. You will combine software engineering principles with systems engineering to build and run large-scale, fault-tolerant, and distributed systems. This role involves a blend of proactive engineering, incident response, and continuous improvement, working within a dynamic and collaborative environment to deliver exceptional service availability for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, high-performance, and secure infrastructure.
- Develop and improve tools for automation of operational tasks, monitoring, and deployments.
- Monitor system health, performance, and capacity, and proactively address potential issues.
- Participate in on-call rotations to respond to and resolve critical incidents.
- Conduct root cause analysis for production incidents and implement preventative measures.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure reliability is built into software from the start.
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to streamline software delivery.
- Contribute to documentation, best practices, and knowledge sharing across teams.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Go, Ruby, Bash).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Strong understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
- Knowledge of monitoring and alerting tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios).
- Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancing).
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Azure Administrator Associate).
- Experience with database systems (SQL and NoSQL).
- Previous experience in a consulting environment.
- Familiarity with ITIL framework.
