Job Description

We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as a Sewer & Drain Maintenance Trainee. This is an outstanding opportunity for an entry-level professional to receive full training and build a long-term career in public service. No prior experience in sewer or drain maintenance is required – we provide all the necessary training to equip you with the skills and knowledge to succeed. You will play a vital role in maintaining our city’s essential infrastructure, ensuring public health and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting skilled technicians and operators in the inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of sewer lines, storm drains, and related infrastructure.
  • Learning to operate and maintain various tools and equipment used in sewer and drain maintenance, such as jetters, vacuum trucks, and CCTV inspection systems.
  • Performing routine manual labor, including digging, lifting, and clearing debris from manholes and drains.
  • Adhering to all safety protocols and procedures, including confined space entry and traffic control.
  • Participating in ongoing training and professional development programs.
  • Responding to emergency calls related to sewer backups or drainage issues as needed.
  • Documenting work performed, materials used, and equipment status.

Required Skills

  • A strong desire to learn and develop a career in public works maintenance.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License or the ability to obtain one prior to employment.
