Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join our dynamic finance team in St. Thomas, Ontario. The successful candidate will be responsible for complex accounting activities, financial reporting, and compliance, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee complex general ledger entries, reconciliations, and financial close processes.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports in accordance with IFRS and company policies.
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis, providing insights and recommendations to management.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing support and analysis.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors during financial reviews.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff as needed.
- Assist with special projects and ad-hoc analysis as required by senior management.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in financial accounting.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions) and financial software/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA designation.
- Experience within the financial services industry.
- Familiarity with large corporate accounting environments.
