Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Scrum Master to champion Agile methodologies within our technology teams in Newcastle. This pivotal role involves facilitating agile ceremonies, coaching teams and stakeholders, removing impediments, and driving continuous improvement in our agile transformation journey. You will play a crucial role in fostering a culture of collaboration, transparency, and relentless delivery, ensuring our teams are high-performing and self-organizing. Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Coach development teams and product owners on Agile principles, practices, and values.
  • Identify and remove impediments that hinder team progress.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, transparency, and accountability within the Scrum teams.
  • Collaborate with other Scrum Masters and the Agile Centre of Excellence to drive consistency and best practices.
  • Shield the team from external interruptions and distractions.
  • Support the Product Owner in maintaining a healthy and well-groomed product backlog.
  • Report on team performance metrics and progress to relevant stakeholders.
  • Champion the adoption of scaled agile frameworks where applicable.
  • Manage conflicts and help the team to resolve issues autonomously.

Required Skills

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent certification.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Scrum Master in a complex, enterprise environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating Agile ceremonies effectively.
  • Strong understanding of Scrum, Kanban, and other Agile methodologies.
  • Proven ability to coach and mentor development teams and Product Owners.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience with Jira or similar Agile project management tools.
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex impediments.
  • A strong passion for Agile principles and continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Scrum Master certification (e.g., A-CSM, PSM II).
  • Experience with scaled agile frameworks (e.g., SAFe, LeSS).
  • Background in financial services or other highly regulated industries.
  • Experience with large-scale organizational agile transformations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
