Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically fit individual to join our team as an Oyster Farm Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to work outdoors in the beautiful Coffs Harbour environment, contributing to the growth and harvest of premium oysters. No prior experience in oyster farming is necessary as full training will be provided. We are looking for reliable team players who are eager to learn, comfortable with manual labor, and committed to high standards of quality and safety. We provide all necessary waders and protective gear, along with a competitive hourly rate for your hard work and dedication.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the cultivation, maintenance, and harvesting of oysters on racks and in intertidal areas.
- Operate and maintain various farm equipment, including boats, sorting machines, and cleaning tools (after training).
- Participate in the cleaning and grading of oysters according to company standards.
- Monitor oyster health and farm conditions, reporting any issues to the farm manager.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the farm site, equipment, and sheds.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Contribute to general farm duties as required, including rack repairs and construction.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions carefully.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Driver's License.
- Boat license or experience operating small vessels.
- First Aid certification.
- Previous experience in agriculture, aquaculture, or outdoor manual labor.
