Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to join our team in Coffs Harbour. Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior researchers in the planning and execution of scientific experiments and field studies.
- Collect, process, and analyse data using established methodologies and equipment.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring its proper functioning, calibration, and cleanliness.
- Prepare samples, reagents, and solutions according to standard operating procedures.
- Record and document experimental procedures, observations, and results accurately and meticulously.
- Contribute to the preparation of scientific reports, presentations, and publications.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and quality control standards in all research activities.
- Manage and organise research materials, supplies, and specimens.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to ongoing project discussions.
Required Skills
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Physics).
- Demonstrated experience in a laboratory or field research setting.
- Proficiency in data collection, basic analysis, and record-keeping.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Sound written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specific laboratory techniques or field equipment relevant to environmental or biological research.
- Familiarity with scientific software for data analysis (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB).
- A current Australian driver's license.
- First Aid certification.
