Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to join our team in Coffs Harbour. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior researchers in the planning and execution of scientific experiments and field studies.

  • Prepare samples, reagents, and solutions according to standard operating procedures.
  • Record and document experimental procedures, observations, and results accurately and meticulously.
  • Contribute to the preparation of scientific reports, presentations, and publications.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and quality control standards in all research activities.
  • Manage and organise research materials, supplies, and specimens.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to ongoing project discussions.

Required Skills

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Physics).
  • Demonstrated experience in a laboratory or field research setting.
  • Proficiency in data collection, basic analysis, and record-keeping.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with specific laboratory techniques or field equipment relevant to environmental or biological research.
  • Familiarity with scientific software for data analysis (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB).
  • A current Australian driver's license.
  • First Aid certification.
