Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Orthodontist to join our thriving practice in Derry/Londonderry. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive orthodontic treatment to a diverse patient base, ranging from children to adults. This role involves diagnosing malocclusions, developing personalized treatment plans, and implementing a variety of orthodontic techniques to achieve optimal aesthetic and functional outcomes. You will work within a supportive multidisciplinary team, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and benefiting from continuous professional development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and assess orthodontic conditions through clinical examination, radiographs, and study models.
  • Develop and present comprehensive, individualized treatment plans to patients.
  • Perform a full range of orthodontic procedures, including fixed appliance therapy, removable appliances, aligner systems, and retention strategies.
  • Monitor patient progress throughout treatment, making necessary adjustments and providing guidance.
  • Collaborate effectively with general dentists, hygienists, and other specialists to ensure integrated patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough patient records in accordance with GDC guidelines and practice policies.
  • Adhere to all clinical governance and health and safety protocols.
  • Participate in continuing professional development and stay updated with the latest advancements in orthodontics.

Required Skills

  • Fully qualified and registered Orthodontist with the General Dental Council (GDC) in the UK.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification in Orthodontics (e.g., MOrth, MSc Orthodontics).
  • Proven experience in delivering high-quality orthodontic treatment to a broad patient demographic.
  • Excellent diagnostic and treatment planning skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and colleagues.
  • A commitment to patient-centered care and ethical practice.
  • Proficiency in using dental practice management software and digital imaging systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with a variety of orthodontic systems, including clear aligner therapy (e.g., Invisalign).
  • Participation in orthodontic research or publishing.
  • Active involvement in professional orthodontic associations.
  • Demonstrable experience in multidisciplinary team environments.
