Job Description

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people? Salford Youth Futures is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Youth Workers to join our team, specifically for evening and weekend shifts. This government-funded initiative aims to provide vital support and positive engagement opportunities for young people in Salford during critical out-of-school hours. You will play a crucial role in delivering engaging programmes, fostering a safe and inclusive environment, and acting as a positive role model. Full training and ongoing development will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals new to the youth work sector or those looking to expand their experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging recreational, educational, and developmental activities for young people aged 8-18.
  • Provide a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all participants, adhering to all safeguarding policies.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with young people, offering guidance and support when needed.
  • Work effectively as part of a collaborative team, liaising with colleagues and external partners to enhance program delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, activities, incidents, and outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and organisational procedures.
  • Engage with parents, guardians, and community members as appropriate to support youth development.

Required Skills

  • A genuine passion for working with and empowering young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly.
  • Flexibility to work effectively during evening and weekend hours.
  • Strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse team.
  • Basic IT literacy for record keeping and communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (paid or voluntary) in youth work, education, social care, or community settings.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Youth Work, Health & Social Care, or similar).
  • Knowledge of local youth services and community resources in Salford.
  • Current First Aid certification or willingness to obtain one.
