Job Description
Are you passionate about the outdoors and eager to contribute to the preservation and safety of our national parks? We are seeking a dedicated National Park Law Enforcement Assistant to join our team in the Suffolk Coast & Heaths AONB. This outdoor-focused role is ideal for individuals who are committed to upholding park regulations, assisting visitors, and supporting our law enforcement efforts. Full training will be provided to ensure you are equipped with all the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in this crucial position. You will spend significant time patrolling, interacting with the public, and helping to maintain the peace and natural beauty of our protected areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of designated park areas on foot and by vehicle to monitor activity and ensure compliance with park regulations.
- Engage positively with park visitors, providing information, directions, and assistance as needed.
- Support Law Enforcement Rangers in responding to incidents, rule violations, and emergencies, ensuring visitor safety.
- Assist in documenting incidents, preparing reports, and maintaining accurate records of daily activities.
- Report environmental concerns, maintenance needs, or potential hazards observed during patrols.
- Participate in public education initiatives, promoting responsible park use and environmental stewardship.
- Assist with minor park maintenance tasks or trail upkeep as required.
Required Skills
- A genuine interest in outdoor environments and conservation.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to observe situations and report details accurately.
- Physical fitness to perform duties outdoors in various weather conditions, including walking long distances and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures and information.
- Valid UK driving license.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service, security, or outdoor-related role (e.g., park volunteer, outdoor guide).
- Basic knowledge of local flora, fauna, and environmental issues.
- First Aid certification.
- Proficiency with basic mapping tools or GPS devices.
