Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Materials Engineer to join our innovative team in Bellevue, WA. This role is crucial for the research, development, and application of advanced materials across various projects, including aerospace components, sensing technologies, and industrial products. The successful candidate will contribute to material selection, characterization, process optimization, and failure analysis to ensure product performance and reliability. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and development of new materials and processes to meet specific product requirements.
  • Perform material characterization using various analytical techniques (e.g., SEM, TEM, XRD, mechanical testing).
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to select appropriate materials and ensure their successful integration into products.
  • Optimize material processing parameters to improve performance, reduce costs, and enhance manufacturability.
  • Conduct failure analysis and root cause investigation of material-related issues.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and specifications for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in materials science.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in materials engineering, research, or product development.
  • Strong understanding of material properties, processing, and characterization techniques.
  • Experience with a range of materials, including metals, ceramics, polymers, or composites.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and technical report writing.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with specific analytical equipment such as SEM, XRD, or mechanical testing systems.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations relevant to aerospace or advanced manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of material simulation software (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS) or CAD tools.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Prior experience working with international teams or on global projects.
