Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist with a strong background in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to join our dynamic team in Ottawa. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy advanced machine learning models and algorithms to solve complex business problems, particularly in areas like fraud detection, recommendation systems, search relevance, and personalization.
- Perform extensive data analysis, statistical modeling, and predictive analytics to uncover insights and inform product strategy.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate ML models into production systems and ensure scalability and reliability.
- Evaluate the performance of models, conduct A/B tests, and iterate on solutions based on empirical results and feedback.
- Communicate complex analytical findings and recommendations clearly and effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in AI/ML research and apply relevant techniques to enhance our capabilities.
- Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the growth of the data science community within the company.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Data Scientist with a focus on AI/Machine Learning.
- Strong proficiency in Python (with libraries like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) or R for data science and machine learning.
- Expertise in statistical modeling, predictive analytics, and experimental design.
- Solid understanding of various machine learning algorithms (e.g., deep learning, NLP, clustering, classification, regression).
- Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work with complex, unstructured datasets.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience with MLOps practices and tools for model deployment and monitoring.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker).
- Contributions to open-source projects or relevant publications in AI/ML.
- Experience in the e-commerce or fintech industry.
