Job Description

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic CubeSat & Small Satellite Engineering Intern to join our innovative team in Milwaukee, WI. This exciting internship opportunity is designed for students passionate about space exploration and satellite technology, offering hands-on experience in the rapidly evolving field of small satellites. As an intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers, contributing to various stages of CubeSat and small satellite projects, from conceptual design and analysis to testing and integration. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, analysis, and simulation of CubeSat and small satellite subsystems (e.g., ADCS, power, communications, structures).
  • Support the assembly, integration, and testing (AI&T) of satellite components and systems in a laboratory environment.
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies and trends in small satellite development.
  • Participate in data collection and analysis from various tests and simulations.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, including reports, presentations, and design specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Learn and adhere to aerospace industry standards and best practices.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong academic record and a genuine interest in space systems and satellite technology.
  • Basic understanding of physics, mechanics, electronics, or programming principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Eagerness to learn new engineering tools and methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with academic projects involving CubeSats, UAVs, robotics, or similar complex systems.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) or simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, SPICE).
  • Basic programming skills in Python, C++, or similar languages.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
  • Participation in relevant student organizations or competitions (e.g., rocketry, robotics clubs).
