Job Description

We are seeking a talented and motivated Azure Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic team in Plymouth. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and managing robust and scalable cloud solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform. You will work within a collaborative environment, contributing to the architecture, deployment, and ongoing optimization of cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and performance for critical defence and technology projects. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong foundation in Azure to contribute to high-impact projects and further develop their expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and resilient cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure.
  • Develop and deploy Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools like Terraform or Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates.
  • Manage and optimize Azure virtual networks, compute resources, storage solutions, and database services.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments and infrastructure changes.
  • Monitor Azure environments for performance, security, and cost optimization, proactively addressing issues.
  • Ensure compliance with security best practices and company policies within the Azure environment.
  • Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to deliver integrated cloud solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to Azure services and infrastructure.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members and stakeholders on Azure best practices.
  • Stay current with new Azure features and services, evaluating their potential for improvement.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services.
  • Proficiency in Azure compute, networking, storage, and identity services (e.g., VMs, VNet, Blob Storage, Azure AD).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Azure Resource Manager (ARM).
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins).
  • Understanding of cloud security principles and best practices.
  • Experience with monitoring tools and services in Azure (e.g., Azure Monitor, Log Analytics).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with Azure PaaS services (e.g., Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Azure SQL Database).
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes/AKS).
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Experience in a defence or highly regulated industry environment.
