Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Astronomer to join our dynamic research team at Plymouth University. The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing research projects in areas such as exoplanetary science, stellar evolution, galactic dynamics, or cosmology. This role involves conducting original research, analyzing observational data, developing theoretical models, and publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals. You will also have opportunities to mentor students and contribute to teaching activities within the department. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct original research in astronomy, leading to publications in high-impact scientific journals.
- Design and execute observational programs using ground-based or space-based telescopes.

- Present research findings at national and international conferences.

Required Skills
- PhD in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics, or a closely related field.

- Expertise in data analysis techniques relevant to astronomical observations (e.g., Python, IDL, IRAF).
- Strong understanding of astronomical principles and theories.
- Proficiency in scientific computing and programming.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Postdoctoral research experience.
