Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Smart Grid & Microgrid Development Intern to join our team in Plymouth. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about renewable energy, power systems, and cutting-edge technology to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced and innovative environment. As an intern, you will contribute to various aspects of smart grid and microgrid project development, from research and analysis to design support and implementation assistance. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the research and analysis of smart grid technologies, microgrid architectures, and renewable energy integration strategies.
- Support the design and simulation of smart grid and microgrid systems using relevant software tools.
- Help prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for ongoing projects.
- Conduct data collection and analysis related to energy consumption, generation, and grid performance.
- Collaborate with senior engineers on various project tasks, learning about project lifecycle and execution.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions for innovative solutions.
- Provide administrative and technical support as needed to the engineering team.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Renewable Energy, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of electrical circuits and power system fundamentals.
- Eagerness to learn and a strong interest in smart grids, microgrids, and renewable energy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, ETAP, or similar.
- Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, C++) is a plus.
- Previous coursework or projects related to power electronics, control systems, or renewable energy.
