Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and physically capable individuals to join our team as Port Stevedores / Cargo Handlers in Hamilton, ON. This is an immediate start, high-demand position crucial to the smooth operation of our port. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient loading, unloading, and movement of various types of cargo, including bulk, breakbulk, and project cargo. Full training will be provided to ensure you are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge for success in this dynamic environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely load and unload cargo from vessels, trucks, and railcars using various equipment and techniques.
  • Operate specialized port equipment, potentially including forklifts, reach stackers, and other heavy machinery (training provided).
  • Secure cargo for transport and storage, including lashing and dunnage application.
  • Monitor cargo condition and report any damage or discrepancies.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, operational procedures, and environmental regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with team members, supervisors, and other port personnel.
  • Perform general yard duties and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Participate in ongoing training and safety refreshers.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all workplace regulations.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Reliability and punctuality are essential.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a industrial, construction, or outdoor labor environment.
  • Valid G-class driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment or machinery.
  • Basic knowledge of maritime or logistics operations.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
