Job Description

KPMG in Bristol is seeking a diligent and analytical Internal Auditor to join our growing assurance team. This pivotal role is crucial in evaluating and improving the effectiveness of our governance, risk management, and control processes across the firm. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct internal audits in accordance with established methodologies and professional standards.
  • Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, risk management frameworks, and governance processes.
  • Identify control weaknesses, operational risks, and inefficiencies, recommending practical and actionable solutions.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and accurate audit reports detailing findings, conclusions, and recommendations to management.
  • Follow up on audit findings to ensure timely and effective implementation of agreed-upon corrective actions.
  • Collaborate effectively with management and staff across various departments to foster a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the annual audit planning process and the development of comprehensive risk assessments.
  • Stay updated with industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and emerging risks relevant to the firm's operations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in internal audit, external audit, or risk management (minimum 3 years).
  • Strong understanding of internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO) and auditing standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting complex information clearly.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • High level of integrity, professional skepticism, and ethical conduct.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification such as CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), ACA, ACCA, or CIMA.
  • Experience with Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) software solutions.
  • Knowledge of specific industry regulations and compliance requirements relevant to financial or professional services.
  • Experience in project management or leading audit engagements from planning to completion.
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
