Job Description

Are you looking for an exciting entry point into the construction trade? Lovell Partnerships is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as Trainee Painters in Portsmouth. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with no prior experience to kick-start a rewarding career. We are committed to providing comprehensive, hands-on training to equip you with all the skills needed to become a professional painter. You’ll work alongside experienced tradespeople on active construction sites, contributing to high-quality residential and commercial projects. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist experienced painters with surface preparation, including cleaning, sanding, and filling.
  • Learn to mix, match, and apply various types of paints, varnishes, and sealants.
  • Help with masking and protecting adjacent surfaces from paint splashes.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly cared for.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations on site.
  • Support the team in achieving project deadlines and quality standards.
  • Attend all provided training sessions and actively participate in learning.
  • Learn to identify different surfaces and the appropriate painting techniques for each.

Required Skills

  • No prior painting experience is required; full training will be provided.
  • A strong willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety principles.
  • Good physical stamina and ability to perform manual tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A valid UK driving license and access to reliable transport.
  • Basic DIY interest or experience.
  • CSCS card (or willingness to obtain one prior to starting, with support).
