Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Nurse Prescriber to join our dedicated team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for providing expert clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment, including independent prescribing, within your scope of practice. You will work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centred care. This role requires a commitment to improving patient outcomes through evidence-based practice and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including history taking and physical examinations.
- Formulate diagnoses and develop individualised care plans based on clinical findings.
- Independently prescribe medications in accordance with the Nurse Prescribers' Formulary and local policies.
- Undertake medication reviews and provide advice on polypharmacy and adherence.
- Provide expert advice, information, and support to patients and their families.
- Collaborate effectively with medical, nursing, and allied health professionals.
- Maintain accurate, concise, and contemporaneous patient records.
- Participate in clinical governance activities, including audit and service improvement.
- Contribute to the training and development of junior staff and students.
Required Skills
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- Independent Nurse Prescriber qualification (V300)
- Demonstrable experience in advanced clinical assessment and decision-making
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and guidelines relating to prescribing practice
- Commitment to continuous professional development
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Nursing or equivalent advanced clinical qualification
- Experience in a primary care, urgent care, or specialist clinic setting
- Evidence of participation in clinical audit and service improvement projects
- Advanced physical assessment skills
