Job Description
We are seeking a talented and passionate Industrial Designer to join our dynamic design team in Windsor, Ontario. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the conceptualization, development, and refinement of next-generation automotive interiors, exteriors, and user interfaces. The ideal candidate will possess a strong aesthetic sensibility, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proven ability to translate complex ideas into compelling design solutions. You will be instrumental in driving innovation from initial sketches through to production-ready models, working collaboratively with engineering, marketing, and user experience teams. Visa sponsorship is available for qualified international candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop innovative design concepts through sketching, rendering, and 3D modeling for various automotive components and systems.
- Translate design visions into tangible prototypes and models, utilizing both digital and physical tools.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and marketing teams to ensure design feasibility and market appeal.
- Conduct research on market trends, consumer needs, and emerging technologies to inform design decisions.
- Prepare and deliver compelling presentations of design concepts to internal stakeholders.
- Maintain a keen understanding of brand identity and integrate it into all design work.
- Iterate on designs based on feedback, technical constraints, and user testing results.
- Ensure designs meet safety standards, regulatory requirements, and production specifications.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., Alias, Rhino, SolidWorks, Catia V5/V6)
- Expertise in 2D sketching and rendering (e.g., Photoshop, Sketchbook Pro, Corel Painter)
- Strong understanding of automotive design principles and manufacturing processes
- Excellent visual communication and presentation skills
- Ability to create high-quality physical models and prototypes
- Portfolio demonstrating innovative design solutions and strong aesthetic judgment
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Industrial Design or a related field
- Experience with VR/AR design tools and workflows
- Knowledge of material properties and manufacturing techniques relevant to automotive applications
- Experience in user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design for automotive systems
- Prior experience working in the automotive industry or a large product design consultancy
