Job Description
Are you an early riser looking for consistent work with weekly pay? Republic Services in Norman, Oklahoma is seeking dedicated and reliable Refuse Loaders / Bin Collectors to join our team. This physically demanding role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions, ensuring the efficient and safe collection of refuse from residential and commercial routes. You’ll be an essential part of keeping our community clean and healthy, starting your day early to beat traffic and get the job done. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently load refuse and recycling materials into collection vehicles along designated routes.
- Operate compaction mechanisms and other vehicle controls as directed by the driver.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, company policies, and traffic laws at all times.
- Assist drivers with maneuvering vehicles, backing up, and navigating challenging areas.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of collection equipment and report any issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area on and around the collection vehicle.
- Communicate effectively with drivers and dispatch regarding route progress or issues.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow).
- Provide excellent service to customers and the community.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly.
- Excellent physical stamina and endurance to work long hours outdoors.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality are essential.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Ability to withstand exposure to various weather conditions and elements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a general labor, outdoor, or physically demanding role.
- Familiarity with waste management operations or equipment.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
