Job Description

Are you a motivated individual looking to kickstart your career in Information Technology? Deakin University in Warrnambool is offering a unique work experience opportunity for an enthusiastic IT Helpdesk Support intern. This program is designed for individuals with little to no prior IT experience, providing hands-on training and mentorship in a real-world higher education environment. You will gain foundational skills in troubleshooting, technical support, and customer service, contributing to the efficient operation of our campus IT infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level technical support to staff and students via phone, email, and in-person channels
  • Assist with basic hardware and software troubleshooting, including desktops, laptops, printers, and network connectivity
  • Help users with common software applications and university systems
  • Escalate complex issues to senior IT technicians as needed
  • Document support requests and resolutions accurately in the helpdesk system
  • Participate in IT asset management tasks, such as inventory tracking and equipment setup
  • Contribute to maintaining a tidy and organised IT support area

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a VET or tertiary course related to IT

  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (e.g., Wi-Fi, Ethernet)
  • Experience using ticketing systems (desirable but not essential)
