Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Wind Farm Maintenance Technician to join our team in Merthyr Tydfil. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the operations and maintenance of our onshore wind farm assets, ensuring their optimal performance and reliability. You will be responsible for carrying out routine maintenance, fault finding, and repair work on wind turbine mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Full training will be provided on specific turbine models and site safety protocols. We are offering sponsorship for eligible candidates who demonstrate a strong aptitude for technical work and a commitment to safety and continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, and preventative maintenance tasks on wind turbines.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults efficiently.
  • Execute corrective repairs and component replacements following established procedures.
  • Conduct pre-commissioning checks and assist with commissioning of new turbines.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts used, and work performed.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for emergency repairs outside of regular working hours.
  • Collaborate effectively with site teams, control room operators, and external contractors.
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements and contribute to best practices.
  • Undergo continuous training and development to enhance technical skills and knowledge.

Required Skills

  • Proven technical aptitude and willingness to learn complex systems.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic principles.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent adherence to safety procedures and protocols.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and be on-call.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant vocational qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND) in electrical, mechanical, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience working in an industrial maintenance environment, preferably renewables.
  • GWO (Global Wind Organisation) Basic Safety Training certification.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems or other control systems.
