Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Welding & Fabrication Engineering Intern to join our manufacturing team in Telford. This internship offers a unique opportunity for aspiring engineers to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic industrial environment. You will work alongside experienced professionals, learning about advanced welding techniques, fabrication processes, and the application of engineering principles in a real-world manufacturing setting. This role is designed to provide comprehensive exposure to the engineering lifecycle within automotive manufacturing, fostering your growth and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior welding and fabrication engineers in daily tasks and project execution.
- Learn and apply various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, Spot Welding) under supervision.
- Support the fabrication of metal components and assemblies, ensuring quality and precision.
- Participate in the design, analysis, and optimization of manufacturing processes.
- Help maintain documentation for welding procedures, quality control, and safety protocols.
- Contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing facility.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and best practices in a workshop environment.
- Conduct basic material testing and inspection to ensure product integrity.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles and materials science.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn new technologies and processes.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA).
- Prior experience (academic or personal projects) in a workshop setting or with metalworking.
- Basic knowledge of different welding processes and equipment.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
