Job Description
Join SA Water as a Water Authority Technician based in Port Lincoln. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operational support of our extensive water and wastewater infrastructure. This includes treatment plants, pumping stations, pipelines, and other essential assets. You will perform routine inspections, fault diagnosis, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs to ensure the continuous and efficient supply of water and disposal of wastewater for the Port Lincoln community. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a dedicated team.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on water and wastewater assets.
- Perform fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Operate and monitor water and wastewater treatment processes and pumping stations.
- Execute scheduled and emergency repairs to pipelines, mains, and associated infrastructure.
- Collect water samples and conduct basic on-site testing.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment status, and inventory.
- Adhere strictly to all WHS (Work Health and Safety) policies and procedures.
- Participate in an on-call roster for after-hours emergencies as required.
- Assist with the installation and commissioning of new plant and equipment.
Required Skills
- Trade qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Mechanical Fitter, Electrician, Plumber, or similar).
- Proven experience in maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems.
- Strong understanding of WHS principles and practices in an industrial environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Valid Australian Driver's License (Class C minimum).
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and data entry.
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within the water or utilities industry.
- Confined Space Entry and Working at Heights certifications.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Forklift operator license.
- Knowledge of SCADA systems and process control.
