Job Description

Paws & Claws Veterinary Group is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Vet Clinic Helper to join our team in South Brisbane. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in a professional animal care setting. We believe in nurturing talent and will provide comprehensive training to ensure you develop the skills needed to succeed. You will play a vital role in supporting our veterinary team, ensuring the clinic runs smoothly, and providing a comforting environment for our animal patients and their owners.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist veterinary nurses and veterinarians with patient handling and restraint.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of clinic facilities, including kennels, examination rooms, and surgical areas.
- Prepare and restock examination rooms with necessary supplies.
- Feed, water, and exercise hospitalised animals according to specific instructions.
- Monitor and report any changes in animal behaviour or condition to senior staff.
- Assist with laundry and general upkeep of the clinic.
- Sanitise surgical instruments and prepare equipment.
- Provide comfort and gentle handling to nervous or recovering animals.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and report low stock levels.
- Support front desk operations as needed, including answering phones and greeting clients.
Required Skills

- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Comfortable working in an environment with animals of all sizes and temperaments.
- Physical ability to lift up to 20kg and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Prior volunteer experience with animals (not mandatory, but a plus).
