Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Urologist to join our esteemed medical team in Canterbury. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide range of urological conditions in both outpatient and inpatient settings. This role requires a dedicated professional committed to patient-centered care, clinical excellence, and contributing to the overall success of our surgical department. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team, utilizing advanced diagnostic and surgical techniques to provide comprehensive urological services.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat diseases and disorders of the urinary tract and male reproductive organs.
- Perform various urological procedures, including both open and minimally invasive surgeries.
- Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including medical history, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative care and education to patients and their families.
- Collaborate with other medical specialists, including oncologists, nephrologists, and primary care physicians.
- Participate in on-call rotations and emergency urological care.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
- Adhere to all medical ethics and professional standards.
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives within the department.
Required Skills
- Valid medical license to practice in the UK (GMC registration)
- FRCS (Urol) or equivalent specialist qualification
- Demonstrated expertise in general urology and common urological procedures
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to patient safety and evidence-based practice
Preferred Qualifications
- Sub-specialty interest or fellowship training in an area such as uro-oncology, female urology, or endourology.
- Experience with robotic-assisted surgery.
- Previous experience in a similar specialist role within the NHS or private sector.
- Participation in clinical research or academic contributions.
