Job Description
Join our vibrant team at GreenRoots Urban Farms as a Harvest Assistant! This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, appreciate early finishes, and are passionate about sustainable food production. You will be an integral part of our harvesting operations, ensuring our produce is gathered efficiently and to the highest quality standards. Full training will be provided, making this a perfect role for those new to farming or looking for a career change.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute daily harvesting tasks for various crops.
- Assist with post-harvest handling, sorting, and packing of produce.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of harvesting areas and tools.
- Follow all food safety and quality control procedures.
- Participate in general farm maintenance as needed, such as weeding or watering.
- Work effectively as part of a team to meet daily targets.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and bending.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Enthusiasm for sustainable agriculture and fresh produce.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in farming, gardening, or outdoor labor (full training provided for all successful candidates).
- Knowledge of basic food safety practices.
- A valid UK driving license (helpful for potential site transfers within Taunton, but not required).
