U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is seeking motivated individuals for the role of Trainee Immigration Enforcement Officer. This is an exceptional entry-level opportunity designed for candidates with no prior experience in law enforcement. You will undergo extensive, paid training to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of an Immigration Enforcement Officer effectively and safely. Upon successful completion of the academy and field training, you will be prepared to contribute to our mission of ensuring public safety and upholding immigration laws. This role requires commitment, integrity, and a strong sense of duty.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively and successfully complete all phases of paid, comprehensive training, including classroom instruction, physical fitness, and tactical exercises.
- Learn and apply federal immigration laws, policies, and procedures under direct supervision.
- Develop skills in surveillance, interdiction, apprehension, detention, and removal operations.
- Practice safe handling and use of firearms and other law enforcement equipment.
- Prepare accurate reports and maintain detailed records of activities.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and the public.
- Adhere to strict ethical guidelines and uphold the highest standards of conduct.
- Maintain physical fitness standards required for law enforcement personnel.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, medical examination, and physical fitness test.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity and ethical conduct.
- Eagerness and ability to learn complex information and new procedures.
- Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and to travel as required.
- Ability to complete all mandatory paid training.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or a related field.
- Fluency in Spanish or other languages.
- Prior experience in customer service, security, or a physically demanding role.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities or experience working in team environments.
