Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Train Station Waiting Room Cleaner to join our team at a busy public transport hub in Waterloo, London. This is a crucial public-facing role where you will be responsible for maintaining impeccable cleanliness standards in waiting rooms and associated public areas. The role involves shift work, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays, and requires a proactive approach to ensuring a pleasant and hygienic environment for all passengers. Full training will be provided, so no prior experience is necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning duties in train station waiting rooms, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.
- Clean and disinfect surfaces, seating areas, and high-touch points regularly.
- Empty waste bins and manage waste disposal according to company and environmental policies.
- Clean and maintain public restrooms to a high standard, ensuring supplies are replenished.
- Respond promptly and courteously to cleaning requests or spills from station staff or the public.
- Monitor and report any maintenance issues or damage observed in waiting areas.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, using appropriate cleaning products and equipment safely.
- Interact professionally and politely with passengers and station personnel while carrying out duties.
- Work effectively as part of a team and independently, demonstrating initiative.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical cleaning tasks efficiently.
- Reliability and punctuality for all assigned shifts.
- Basic understanding of health and safety practices in a public environment.
- Good communication skills in English to interact with the public and colleagues.
- A positive attitude and a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
- No prior professional cleaning experience is required; full training will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a cleaning role, particularly in a public or commercial setting, is a plus but not essential.
- Knowledge of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations.
- Awareness of railway station environments and associated safety protocols.
